Social media is critical to anyone’s business in the technology, information intensive age.  If you don’t market your product or service, and prospect on social media sites like Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, etc. you are doing yourself a disservice.  Facebook alone has a billion people registered.  So when you’re not on your computer, out and about and you got a few minutes to check your social media newsfeed on your smartphone, here’s how you can prospect on the go.

Becoming a Network Marketer is a Process

We’ve all been there.  You get into the business because of your vision of a lifestyle you want to live.  The network marketing business model is a great way to get you there.  You’re excited.  You want to share it with everybody.  Right when you’re about to head home after you sponsor gets you enrolled, you say, “Can’t wait to post this opportunity on Facebook!”  Your sponsor says, “Wait. Wait. No, no, no. I highly recommend you don’t do that.”  You would be smart to listen.  He would tell you that’s a big mistake.  Why?

Network Marketing Training with Larry and Taylor Thompson

My company had our annual convention last weekend and we had a special guest for Sunday’s training.  Larry Thompson has made millions in the MLM, network marketing and home based business profession.  He was joined by his wife Taylor who also shared her wisdom and some network marketing training with us during her career in the profession.  This was some of the best network marketing training I ever received.  It’s really wasn’t a ‘how to’ type of training.  It was more about concepts and the mindset a person must have in order to succeed in this profession.

A Mind of Abundance

Having a network marketing mind of abundance is basically not being selfish about what you have.  You want to share the knowledge and experience to help people live better.  Everybody wants people to help in their own business but what if the people you are trying to help just isn’t into your company or product but like the profession?  Would you help them by contacting another network marketing professional with a company or product that’s more appealing to them?

Expectations & Dreams

Did yours, or your team members eyes light up when your business presentation show the potential money this profession offers?  Did you start dreaming a little bigger?  I often ask people towards the end of a presentation, “Do you have somebody in mind that could benefit from the information?”  Their brain goes a mile a minute, the hamster in the wheel is turning, they get excited.  However, a few days or a few weeks into it when they find out this profession takes a lot of work, and they haven’t helped anyone into the business; their reality didn’t meet their expectations.  The gap between expectations and reality is called frustration and disappointment.

In my military career we here this phrase a fair amount.  In sports it applies too.  Fundamentally you have to be sound in order accentuate the skills.  Talking to people is critical to getting paid in a small business.  Whether you are recruiting or selling, you have to know what to say and how to say it to your prospects.  Here are the basics in prospecting.
